Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) British curriculum at Gummy Bear Nursery. The EYFS framework provides standards and expectations for the development of children up to aged five years. At Gummy Bear Nursery, your child will be learning new skills, acquiring knowledge, and demonstrating their understanding through the seven areas of learning and development through a holistic, hands on, and play based approach.

The following are the principles that guide our curriculum:

• A unique child

  We recognize that every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident, and self-assured. The commitments are focused on development; inclusion; safety; and health and well-being.

• Positive relationships

  Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or a key person. The commitments are focused on respect; partnership with parents; supporting learning; and the role of the key person.

• Enabling Environments

  The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning. The commitments are focused on observations, assessment, and planning; support for every child; the learning environment; and the wider context – transitions, continuity, and multi-agency working.

• Learning and Development

  We recognize that the children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates, and that all areas of learning and development are equally important and inter-connected.

Enrichment Programme (Extra Curricular):

The Nursery enrichment classes provides a different environment then what kids see at home and let them become explorers and discoverers of the world. The classes would not push children but instead provide an environment rich with interaction tools for what comes naturally to them. It not only helps them develop confidence and social skills from a young age, but enrichment programs are actually considered critical because the brain is developing so rapidly at this age. Research shows that learning art, music and other enrichment skills can help children excel in ways beyond the basic ABCs.

The enrichment programme is conducted from 2:00–6:00 p.m. every day. We offer a wide variety of things such as sports, music, arts, and crafts. These activities teach and promote respect, self-discipline and independence. Children have the chance to engage in stimulating and challenging activities with projects designed to develop and enhance communication, leadership, problem-solving and inventive & creative thinking. They face intellectual challenges, create original products, develop emerging life skills and talents, but most of all, they have fun!
